[Thursday, September 28, 2006] BERLINER KUNSTSALON 06
III Berliner KUNSTSALON
September 29th - October 2nd Opening hours daily: 1pm - 10pm (13 Uhr – 22 Uhr) Entrance € 6 - € 8 at the door For the first time Strychnin Gallery Berlin is presenting a variety of artists at the III Berlin KUNSTSALON located at the ARENA BERLIN as part of the ART FORUM and Berlin Kunstherbst 2006. Our goal is to establish new and emerging art and artists in Europe and vice versa to ultimately be the bridge between Berlin and NYC. We are offering a platform to those one would usually find at the edge of the already establish art scene. The work that we choose to represent as well as the creative minds behind it often have their roots in street-art, the comic industry, motion pictures or digital and propaganda art. The concept of our gallery can be experienced in group and solo shows which continue to consequently bring life to the idea of international exchange and the mix of styles. Each artist, already individually established in their medium and country etc. has the chance to show and work with artists of a complete different background, genre or style and can so experience artistic growth and exchange. During the III BERLINER KUNSTSALON we would like to introduce a small selection of our artists. Amongst which you will find spanish artist Romulo Royo with his large format mixed media creations, NY based David Stoupakis's dark and disturbing oil paintings as well as parisian artist Chris von Steiner with his sarcastic digital pop-compostitions. The dark surrealistic drawings Richard Kirk's from Canada opposite US based Stephen Kasner's dark surrealism as well as David Hochbaum - one of the members of the internationally acclaimed art collaborative Goldmineshithouse with his collages and last but certainly not least the incredible american sculptor Kris Kuksi with his wall installations contributing the only three dimensional work. At the same time our gallery will be open during the same hours as the art fair where you are more than welcome to see NEW WORKS of all our artists - including Travis Louie, Kristen Ferrell, Viktor Koen, Angie Mason, Pee Monster, Jason Jacenko, Natalie Shau, Eckel, Claudia Drake, Adele Mildred, Liz McGrath tbc.as part of the 2006 KUNSTSALON exhibition. We will be part of the ARTinSIGHT walk which includes 35 galleries in all of Berlin as well as the NCA New Contemporary Art festival. Yasha Young STRYCHNIN GALLERY Boxhagenerstrasse 36 Berlin, 10245 www.strychnin.com mail@strychnin.com ![]() Following the phenomenal success last year of its second edition, the third BERLINER KUNSTALON will be held in the autumn of 2006. It will include 40 exhibitions, illustrating why Berlin's international reputation as a dynamic centre for the arts is well deserved. Spread over one big space of 3900 square metres, young galleries, artists' networks, art spaces, freelance curators and other projects will present recent works by contemporary artists, beyond the mainstream, not dictated by commercial constraints, in a consciously generous exhibition space from minimal 50 m². The BERLINER KUNSTSALON was conceived as a complementary programme to the 'Kunstherbst Berlin' (Art Autumn), providing a forum for discussion and contacts. Visitors are provided with glimpses into the young art scene in a way that is not available anywhere else. The 1st BERLINER KUNSTSALON in 2004 was initiated by its director Edmund Piper. He does not, by any means, see this event as competing with the art fairs ART FORUM BERLIN, Preview Berlin and Berliner Liste, which are held at the same time of year. On the contrary, it provides another perspective of the current realities of the upcoming international art scene today: while the big art fairs show new works of already well known artists the BERLINER KUNSTSALON offers the chance to discover new artists.
